Hamilton is a rural community in Heath Township, Allegan County, Michigan. It is located 35 miles south of Grand Rapids, 55 miles north of Kalamazoo, and 10 miles east of Lake Michigan. There are an estimated 8,000 people living in Hamilton.

The first white settler of Hamilton, Michigan was Charles Butler. Butler purchased a section of land in 1835 that would later become Hamilton. The area of land purchased by Butler was known as Rabbit River. A post office operated on the land for about a year. In the 1860s, a man named Aaron Willards plotted a village on the land. Soon after, a post office known as Hamilton opened and a community quickly developed, marking the beginnings of modern-day Hamilton.

Today, Hamilton is a quaint, unincorporated community. It is positioned along Highway 40 which provides residents of Hamilton easy access to other communities and nearby attractions. In Hamilton are several businesses, Hamilton Elementary School, and a United States Postal Service office. Despite its small size, Hamilton has great charm and is an excellent place to live for families and individuals.

Hamilton is located in a region of the United States that is susceptible to warm summers. During the months of June, July, and August, daytime temperature highs range from the upper-70s to low-80s.
